We are pleased to announce the launch of Hawley & Allan LLC, a new firm whose principals have extensive experience and expertise in design and manufacturing services of bespoke private-label items to clubs and societies. The firm incorporates its understanding of classic design to create fine branded products, including ties, scarves, badges, medals, and other distinctive accessories that reflect the unique heritage and prestige of each organization.<\/p>

Shervin Hawley (photo, right) brings years of experience assisting societies with design and manufacturing, using a educated eye for detail and deep understanding of heraldry and symbolism. He is known for his highly conceptual and meticulously designed scarves and pocket squares. Robb Aley Allan (photo, left) is a co-owner of New & Lingwood, an elite 160-year-old men’s outfitter founded in Eton and headquartered in London’s Jermyn Street, with a long history of sartorial excellence. N&L works with the finest British mills, weavers, and tailors to make highly distinctive items known throughout the world.<\/p>

With their combined expertise, the two principals aim to elevate the visual identity of lineage societies and private clubs through meticulously crafted, high-quality items using first-class manufacturers. \u201cMany small societies and clubs are run by volunteers, most of whom have little experience
finding and working with weavers and mills in the UK and Europe,\u201d says Allan. \u201cShervin and I have had years doing so, and hope to bring that knowledge to their advantage.\u201d Hawley & Allan invites clubs, societies, and other distinguished groups to explore how their expertise can help create meaningful, high-quality items that honor legacy and inspire members.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

What distinguishes Hawley & Allan is a process that is attentive to detail at every step. It is a perfect combination of art and science that yields an elegant design that is true to your identity and values.<\/p>\n

The most critical step in creating an heirloom piece is discovery. Before an image is conceived, we get to the heart of the challenge. Not only who you are, but how you want to be perceived. <\/p>\n

Once that foundation has been laid, Hawley & Allan applies traditional and modern design tools to execute a design that is true to this base. It is also critical at this stage to determine the different means by which each product will be crafted so that designs for each medium are properly executed.<\/p>\n

The project doesn’t end with design. Often what determines success or failure is in the execution of the design. It is not unusual to work with artisans on multiple rounds of revisions and adjustments until we are satisfied with the results. They are both based on the same original emblem, but our detail-driven process and design expertise yield a significantly improved result. We also work with some of the world’s finest craftsmen, including embroiderers for the UK<\/em>\u00a0royal household.<\/em><\/p>

The Making of a Scarf<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Just out for the January event: the 70th Anniversary Washington Winter Show Scarf is a piece of wearable art on fine silk that embodies seven decades of the iconic show. Hand-drawn by designer Shervin B. Hawley and silk-screened in a striking palette of 14 colors, this scarf is more than just an accessory\u2014it\u2019s a celebration of history and charity.<\/span><\/p>

The design includes a stunning platinum variation of the Washington Winter Show logo. A detailed platinum chain with 70 links, each one symbolizing a year of the show, holds a pendant inscribed with \u201cLXX\u201d (the Roman numeral for 70).<\/p>

Intricate blue and pink filigree scrolls gracefully adorn the corners of the scarf, composed of the letters WWS for Washington Winter Show, and at the center bottom, the letters \u201cWA\u201d for Washington Antiques (show).<\/p>

Scattered throughout the scarf are charming illustrations of children in playful poses, interacting with antique treasures from the past 70 years, such as furniture, books, lamps, vases, chests, and toys. One is even embracing the America\u2019s Cup, from a previous show. These images not only highlight the event\u2019s rich history but also symbolize its ongoing charitable mission to benefit children.<\/p>
